LATAM Airlines Opens First Lima-Barcelona Nonstop Flight

LATAM Airlines Peru has operated its first nonstop flight between Lima, Peru and Barcelona, Spain, marking the start of three weekly services between the two cities.

“With this new flight – the 11th international service that LATAM Airlines Group and its affiliates have launched this year – we continue to strengthen our network and improve connectivity between Latin America and Europe,” said Roberto Alvo, Senior Vice President of International and Alliances, LATAM Airlines Group.  “In addition to serving an unrivalled 119 destinations throughout Latin America, LATAM now flies to six major cities across Europe as well as principal cities in North America, Africa and Oceania.”

The Lima-Barcelona service will complement LATAM Airlines Group and its affiliates’ daily non-stop flights between São Paulo and Barcelona as well its non-stop services from Lima, São Paulo, Santiago and Guayaquil (Ecuador) to Madrid, where customers can connect to and from Barcelona via oneworld partners.  The group also operates non-stop services from Latin America to a further four European destinations: London, Paris, Frankfurt and Milan.

LATAM estimates that more than 63,500 passengers per year will fly the new Lima-Barcelona service: “We’re confident that passengers on both sides of the Atlantic will welcome what these two special cities have to offer and benefit from greater convenience, shorter journey times and increased connectivity,” Mr Alvo added.

Initially, LATAM Airlines Peru flight LA2430 will depart Lima at 19:25 (local time) on Monday, Thursday and Saturday, arriving in Barcelona (El Prat) at 14:05 (local time) the following day.  The return flight (LA2431) will depart Barcelona at 23:55 (local time) on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, arriving in Lima at 07:45 the next day (local time).

From 27 March 2017, flight LA2430 will depart Lima at 19:25 (local time) on Monday, Thursday and Saturday, arriving in Barcelona at 15:00 (local time) the following day.  The return flight (LA2431) will depart Barcelona at 23:55 (local time) on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, arriving in Lima at 06:35 the next day (local time).

The new flight is the 11th international service that LATAM Airlines Group and its affiliates have launched in 2016 with highlights including São Paulo-Johannesburg, Lima-Washington D.C. and Santiago-Los Angeles.  The group also recently announced a Santiago-Melbourne service, which will become the longest non-stop flight in its history when it begins operations in October 2017.
