Meridian Club Offers Specials for Anglers

The Meridian Club, a private island retreat on Pine Cay, Turks and Caicos, is fishing for business.

The luxury 13-suite beachfront resort, which reopens Nov. 1 after its annual three-month closure for upgrades, offers a special add-on for guests booking a fishing excursion this winter.

The offer, based on a five-night minimum stay, includes a free golf cart rental on days of booked fishing trips, a bottle of wine to celebrate the catch at the end of the day and a 20% discount for a massage at Sand Dollar Spa.

Fishermen who know the waters surrounding Pine Cay say there is a variety of fishing available, from bonefish on the flats to deep-sea marlin.

Most prime fishing spots can be reached within 20 minutes of the island, and Meridian Club's chef Shane Coffey will cook the catch, according to Bev Plachta, general manager.

Guests arriving at Meridian Cay this winter will find a new dock that makes getting on and off the boats much easier, a new Hobie wave sailboat, a new gift shop, a new pastry chef and a parking area for golf carts.

Rates through Dec. 19 and from Jan. 6 through April 30, 2014 start at $1,195 per suite, double, for one to three nights.
