Nevis is stressing ways to experience the island on a budget. While the island of Nevis is know for its upscale appeal with luxury accommodations and fine dining, travelers on a budget can experience an authentic Nevisian experience full of history, culture and adventure for less than $100.

With these affordable activities, visitors can explore Nevis by land or water. It’s free to walk into the rainforest above The Hermitage Plantation Inn in the early morning to see Green Vervet monkeys; you can also hike Golden Rock Nature Trail to explore Nevis’ tropical rainforest full of exotic plant life and indigenous fruit trees. It’s free to browse the waterfront capital of Charlestown’s shops and photograph the town’s well-preserved colonial architecture or to wander the fruit and vegetable market in town on Saturday mornings. The Philatelic Bureau’s stamp collection is open to visitors for free as are visits to the historic Cottle Church, near the Mount Nevis Hotel, which was built in 1824 for the former president of Nevis’ family and slaves to worship together.

For under $50, clients can learn about Nevisian heroes at The Museum of Nevis History and the Alexander Hamilton Museum ($5 per adult). And for those who visit one museum, admission is reduced at the second. Clients can visit the Nevis Botanical Gardens for $10, or take a snorkeling lesson at the Under the Sea Sealife Centre for $25 per person. Mansa’s Last Stop organic farm offers fresh pineapple and mango juices or ginger beer from $3.

For under $100, clients can explore Nevis on horseback. Guided trail rides are available from The Hermitage Plantation Inn’s stables at $55 per person for 1½ hours. Experienced snorkelers can explore the Under the Sea Sealife Center’s Touch and Go Snorkel Trip for $55 per person or take a mountain bike tour tailored to intermediate cyclists for $60 per person. Scuba Safaris offers trips to St. Kitts on Sunday afternoons followed by a stop at Frigate Bay for a drink for $47. An Indian head massage at the new Compassionate Touch Spa costs $50.
