Occidental Hotels to Cease Operations in Cuba

Occidental Hotels will cease all operations in Cuba in coming days as part of the adjustment actions the Spain-based company is taking in the face of its new reality and on the heels of the selloff process.
The hotel chain took the decision of bringing all Cuba operations to a halt, thus initiating a transfer process that could guarantee the level of service standards the Occidental brand has been offering for years. The company also wants to make good on all commercial agreements signed with tour operators and travel agencies in the course of these past years.
The company’s current partners on the island nation, Gaviota and Gran Caribe, will work with the Occidental Hotels’ teams during the transition period in an effort to make sure all management and marketing joint objectives are properly met.
In Cuba, Occidental Hotels was running the Occidental Miramar & Montehabana, Allegro Varadero with the Grupo de Turismo Gaviota, and the Allegro Cayo Guillermo with Gran Caribe.
