The Panamanian government is planning to pour $100 million into nine different tourist projects in the Caribbean province of Bocas del Toro, Panama’s Tourism Minister Ruben Blades announced this week.

The projects, to be executed in a western province that abuts Costa Rica, are linked to the hotel sector, tourist residences, marinas and shopping mall areas, Mr. Blades explained.

We have faith in the future of the travel sector in this country, and that’s why we’re getting ready to make it big and cling to that success, he went to say.

A 70-room hotel is expected to be built in Bocas del Toro, a place penciled in as one of Panama’s most exciting travel destinations. At the same time, new residences will be built in Bastimento and Colon Island, plus marinas and a brand-new shopping mall on the premises.

Other hotels in Bocas de Drago and Big Creek will also be constructed in the course of the ongoing year. “We’re coming up with ideas and mapping out an action plan for both the short and the long run that will permit us to meet the expectations of tourism development,” Minister Blade noted.
