Portugal Tourism Lists Lodging Bargains

The Portuguese Tourist Office did a random sample of spring and pre-summer deals at hotels across Portugal and found “lots of great prices at great places.” Portugal’s network of pousadas-small hotels and inns refurbished from former manor homes, castles, monasteries and other historical properties, offers “Pousadas Touring Unlimited,” a package deal that can save the traveler 50 percent during the month of April.

The package includes seven nights accommodation in double room from 395 euros ($499) per person with breakfast, a 10 percent discount on meals, free meals for kids, and free accommodation for children (maximum two) up to 12 years old.

An optional rental car makes it 447 ($565) per person. Solares de Portugal, a network of 96 manor houses, family homes, and palaces offer a personal lodging from 65 euros ($82) per double room per night with breakfast included.
