Portuguese Hotel Chain Starts Operations in Cuba

Portuguese hotel chain Pestana began operations in Cuba with the opening of a hotel in Cayo Coco, in the Jardines del Rey travel destination, north of central Ciego de Avila province.

With 508 rooms distributed in 11 villas under the concept of junior suites and suites, the four-star Pestana Cayo Coco Beach Resort belongs to the Cuba Gaviota hotel group, and operated under the all-inclusive regime, the Cubadebate Web site reported.

The Portuguese company seeks its markets according to cultural affinity, language, customs and history, hence its interest in attracting to Cuba tourists coming from South America.

Pestana has 94 hotels in 14 countries, among them Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia and Argentina.
