RIU Hotels Named “Best Leisure Hotel Group”

This prestigious award is annually given by Travel Magazine as a result of a voting carried out by travel agents.

RIU Hotels & Resorts has been awarded, 13 years in a row, as the "Best Leisure Hotel Group", thanks to the voting of travel agents from Belgium, readers of the prestigious Travel Magazine, a leading magazine in the country’s travel industry.

The awarded was delivered on November 14, during the 17th edition of the annual gala organized by the magazine for travel professional. The event, held at Antwerp’s Hilton Hotel, was attended by 720 representatives of the travel industry in Belgium, as well as international guests.

The "2014 Best Leisure Hotel Group" awards pays tribute to the hotel group that provides its guests the highest satisfaction levels. The Spanish company is proud to have been given this award for thirteen years in a row, since it represents the recognition to the commitment with quality and service delivered to its guests.

Peter Hahn, RIU Hotels & Resorts’ Head of Market Development for Belgium and France, picked up the award on behalf of RIU and expressed: "We’re very happy and proud to be handed this prize. We profoundly thank all travel agents and clients for their trust in RIU. This award encourages us to keep on working as it praises our perseverance and effort in RIU to fulfill quality standards and honor the confidence we receive from guests and travel agents."

RIU international hotel group was founded in Mallorca, Spain, in 1953 as a small leisure business managed by the Riu family, founder and present owner, through its third generation. The company is focused on leisure hotels. Nearly 70 per cent of its properties offer the prestigious All inclusive by RIU service. With the opening of its first city hotel in 2010, RIU widened its range of products with the group of city hotels named Riu Plaza. RIU Hotels & Resorts owns over 100 hotels in 16 countries that annually receive over 3.5 million guests and employ 27,107 people. Nowadays, RIU is the 29th larger hotel group on Earth, the first one in Spain and third one in terms of the amount of rooms.
