Riu Hotels & Resorts to Open Fourth Cancun Property

Riu Hotels & Resorts will open its fourth Cancun property on May 4, 2012, representing an investment of $140 million. The Riu Palace Peninsula will offer a beachfront location and will become the company’s fourth hotel in the destination, where it already has the Riu Cancun, Riu Caribe and Riu Palace Las Americas.

The Riu Palace Peninsula will become another property in the company’s line of luxury Riu Palace resorts and will feature the palace-like architecture and 24-hour, all-inclusive program that distinguish these properties. The hotel will be the second Riu Palace in the destination and the sixth in Mexico. The hotel will feature 562 rooms, six specialty restaurants as well as a main international buffet and seven bars, all of which will be located in a building of 17 floors and villas.

The hotel will also offer water sports, including windsurfing, kayaking and snorkeling, in addition to freshwater swimming pools, one heated for the winter, and one with integrated Jacuzzi and swim-up bar. The Riu Palace Peninsula will also provide a full entertainment program during the day, live performances every night and a full Renova Spa, complete with gym, sauna and Jacuzzi.
