Riu Palace Bavaro to Open in Dominican Republic’s Punta Cana
In December, Riu Hotels & Resorts will open the new Riu Palace Bavaro in the Riu Punta Cana complex, located on Arena Gorda beach. The resort’s opening coincides with the Mallorca-based hotel group’s 20th anniversary.
The hotel will offer the 24 Hours All-Inclusive program and will feature 610 rooms distributed between the main building and 12 luxury villas that include wireless Internet in their suites and junior suites (Wi-Fi service is also available in the lobby).
The hotel will offer four swimming pools, two of which have integrated Jacuzzi; a children's pool with a mini-club; the famous entertainment program; and a spa with sauna, Jacuzzi and gym. Additionally, the property will have a 12,916-square-foot convention center consisting of four conference rooms which will be able to accommodate up to 1,000 people.
Dining options include a choice of a main restaurant serving three meals daily in addition to four specialty restaurants, a lobby bar with ice cream and pastries and a sports bar that will be open 24 hours daily.
Guests of the Riu Palace Bavaro also have access to the Riu complex’s Caribbean Street where they can access a spa, fitness center, souvenir shop, the nightclub Pacha and the casino located in the Riu Palace Macao. Entrance to all of these facilities is complimentary to hotel guests. Guests from the new Riu Palace Bavaro will have the privilege of enjoying during the day the facilities of the other four hotels within the Riu complex -- Riu Palace Punta Cana, Riu Palace Macao, Riu Bambu and Riu Naiboa.
The Riu Palace Bavaro will be the company’s fifth hotel in Punta Cana and its third Riu Palace property in the Dominican Republic, as the hotel chain already has the Riu Palace Macao and Riu Palace Punta Cana in this destination. In November 1991, Riu opened its first resort outside of Spain, the hotel Riu Taino. Two decades later, on the same site where this historic hotel was located, the hotel chain opens the new hotel from the luxurious line Riu Palace, which will become the 34th Riu resort in Latin America and the Caribbean.
