Rosewood Mayakoba on Riviera Maya Gets $1.6 Million Renovation
Rosewood Mayakoba, the 128-suite luxury resort on Mexico’s Riviera Maya, reopened Sept. 25 following a four-week, $1.6 million renovation. Led by renowned Mexican architect and interior designer Jose Manuel Martinez Marquez, the renovation includes the addition of 18 adjoining suites created from existing accommodations and restyled with artwork and furniture.
The revamp also includes a makeover of the resort’s dining venues -- Casa Del Lago Restaurant, Agave Azul Sushi Bar & Tequila Library and Punta Bonita -- a remodeling and expansion of the gym at Sense, a Rosewood Spa; and new on-property experiences, including the addition of a Culture Concierge and Stargazing Storyteller, Mancation getaways and a redesigned kids club.
Rosewood Mayakoba now offers 18 connecting suites to make the resort an even more desirable destination for families or larger groups. The suites can sleep up to six guests each and are outfitted with high-end paintings and artwork by local artisans to reflect the destination’s heritage.
New on-property amenities include the Culture Concierge, who serves as the go-to for all things to do in the region and off-the-beaten-path activities and tours upon request by prominent archeologists and historians, who act as guides through the region’s Mayan archeological sites of Maya communities.
Rosewood Mayakoba also features an on-property biologist who leads an EcoTour exploring the 61.75 acres of lagoon and 210 acres of mangroves while educating guests on the surrounding wildlife and natural vegetation. Parents can take a night off and leave their children at Rosebuds Kids Club with the biologist who serves as the Stargazing Storyteller, providing evening entertainment for the young guests.
The resort’s four dining venues now feature reinvented menus with local interpretations of international cuisine. Overlooking the lagoon, Rosewood Mayakoba’s signature restaurant Casa del Lago, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, now has a fresh new look using vibrant corals, subtle beiges, and black designs. The restaurant features a Mediterranean-inspired menu and a granite and glass cold buffet has been installed.
