Sandals CEO Says that Grenada resort Will “Blow Your Mind”

Sandals LaSource Grenada Resort & Spa, scheduled to open in December 2013, will feature the resort company's most elaborate accommodations to date, the company said at an event here Wednesday.

"Grenada will be something the world has never seen in Caribbean tourism," said Sandals CEO Adam Stewart. "It will blow your mind. We think we're a game changer in the Caribbean."

The resort, into which Sandals is investing $19 million, will have nine dining options including the brand’s first steakhouse, to be named Butch's Chophouse after the resort company’s founder and chairman.

Other dining options will include a sushi bar; a French café; and Caribbean, French, Italian and Teppanyaki restaurants. The resort will have 231 rooms, an addition of 131 to the 100 rooms Sandals inherited when it acquired the LaSource Resort in November.

Sandals said the rooms will be housed within three distinct villages: Pink Gin, Italian and Tahiti, each with its own ambience. The Italian and Tahiti villages will comprise the newly built rooms and will offer the most luxurious accommodations.

Tahiti Village, situated on the resort’s mountainside, will feature the highest room category, the millionaire suites. The suites will boast private entrances, glass-tile plunge pools, indoor and outdoor showers, and 65-inch TVs.

Adam Stewart said the new steakhouse will be similar to steakhouses he and his father enjoy while in New York, bringing "a $200 New York City meal to an all-inclusive on Grenada."
