Sandals Resorts International said it is terminating its lease with the owners of the Beaches Sandy Bay Resort in Negril, Jamaica, effective Sept. 30, according to a company statement. The end of the lease agreement will terminate a 12-year partnership, according to Sandals officials.

“Despite the successes of Beaches Sandy Bay, the resort no longer fits the long term strategy and vision of our organization and we will look to pursue other exciting opportunities elsewhere,” said Sandals in the statement.

Sandals will maintain full hotel operations at the resort through Aug. 31 to accommodate existing bookings. Guests scheduled for stays after Aug. 31 will have the option to change their booking to similar accommodations at another Beaches resort in Jamaica without penalty or change fees.

Current resort employees will be relocated to sister properties based on availability, Sandals said, and Pioncianna Resorts Limited, the property’s owners, will resume the daily operation of the hotel upon the end of the agreement. After it parts with Beaches Sandy Bay, Sandals will still have Beaches Boscobel and Beaches Negril in Jamaica, and Beaches Turks & Caicos.
