Sandals Resorts will offer a spectrum of new amenities and facilities at its new Sandals Barbados and Sandals LaSource Grenada Resort & Spa all-inclusive resorts, including an Indian-themed restaurant among five new eateries at the Barbados property, which opened Nov. 6, and terraced hillside suites with balcony pools and swim-ups suites at the Grenada resort, which opens Dec. 12, 2013. The Grenada resort also will feature a new steakhouse, Butch’s Chop House, named after Sandals’ chairman.

The addition of the Barbados property is “incredibly strategic for us,” said Gordon “Butch” Stewart, Sandals’ chairman, at a briefing for media in New York on Tuesday. “We really want to share this destination with the American people. We always wanted to be in Barbados but nothing before its time.”

Sandals will open five new restaurants at the Barbados resort, which the company acquired from Barbados’ government in October, including an Indian restaurant and a French café. A five-story Italian Village at the resort will offer terraced rooms positioned on a hillside; accommodations will include “sky suites” with infinity-edge plunge pools on the top level, ground-floor swim-up suites and Japanese soaking tubs.

“We want to set a five- and six-star standard in the all-inclusive segment,” said Adam Stewart, Sandals’ CEO. “We will truly be taking our company to the next level with Sandals LaSource Grenada.”

In other news, Sandals Royal Bahamian Spa Resort & Offshore Island in Nassau, Bahamas is undergoing a multi-million dollar renovation of the resort’s Windsor building, scheduled to be complete in January 2014. The building’s 174 suites will receive updated furnishings and new bathrooms. Swim-up suites will also be created, along with a new ground floor river pool.
