Sandos Caracol Eco Resort Launches Sustainability Measures

Sandos Hotels & Resorts is renovating its Sandos Caracol Eco Resort & Spa on the Riviera Maya, Mexico with the goal of creating the region’s most environmentally friendly property through the implementation of conservation and preservation programs and projects to protect the environment.

Sandos’ preservation programs are monitored internally by an Ecological Committee and external auditors to ensure they maintain a positive impact on the environment.

The programs and practices include measures to reduce the resort’s carbon footprint, reduce electricity use, conserve water, recycle and separate trash, use biodegradable bottles throughout the resort, protect and reproduce indigenous plants, use recycled paper for all printed material, and improve the flow of the fresh water system. Eco-educational activities including an eco tour, snorkel tour, romantic canoe ride and eco workshops in the Kids Club.
