Sol Melia, RIU Announce New Openings
Spanish hotel and resort company Sol Meliá announced that it is to open its first regional hotel in Dubai. The Meliá Dubai, a 164-room “urban resort,” will open on Oct. 12, 2011, to coincide with national day in Spain.
The AED 200 million Meliá Dubai will feature five a la carte, fine dining restaurants, including an Indian restaurant Khazana by celebrity Chef Sanjeev Kapoor; “The Level,” a Meliá branded executive floor; a full service Yhi Spa; as well as a rooftop and swimming pool, which will feature a Spanish Tapas bar.
Spanish hotel chain Riu Hotels & Resorts opened on May 1 in Agadir the Riu Grand Palace Tikida Golf hotel and the Riu Tikida Garden hotel in the city of Marrakech. In addition to these two properties, the hotel chain plans to open this winter the Riu Palace Agadir in the Moroccan resort of Agadir.
The Riu Grand Palace Tikida Golf is a boutique hotel of 54 rooms, located in the middle of the golf course Du Soleil. This hotel, together with the Riu Grand Palace Maspalomas Oasis Gran Canaria, is the second hotel of the Riu Grand Palace brand.
The new building has two swimming pools, a fine restaurant with wine cellar and provides a free shuttle bus twice a day for all those guests who wish to use the facilities of the ocean-front Riu Tikida Beach hotel.
