St. John’s Caneel Bay Resort Ends Management Pact with Rosewood

The Caneel Bay Resort on St. John, U.S.V.I., has ended its management agreement with Rosewood Hotels & Resorts and will operate as an independent property owned and operated by CBI Acquisitions, effective Nov. 1, the company announced. Rosewood has managed the resort since 1993.
Existing resort reservations, events and bookings will be unaffected by the transition, according to a company statement. Guest histories of past stays will also be maintained. Founded by philanthropist Laurance Rockefeller, the 170-acre eco-friendly resort incorporates seven beaches and lies within the Virgin Islands National Park.
Nikolay Hotze will remain as the property’s managing director under the new management and Caneel Bay will continue to employ a New York-based sales and marketing operation. CBI, which has owned the resort since 2003, will make several new additions to the property this year including a new restaurant and gelato shop.
