STR Global Survey Finds Strong Performance by Americas Region Hotels
STR Global reports that the Americas region posted positive results in the three key hotel performance metrics when reported in U.S. dollars during September. When compared to September 2012, the Americas region reported a 0.3 percent monthly increase in occupancy to 63.5 percent, a 3 percent monthly increase in average daily rate to $112.82 and a 3.4 percent monthly growth in revenue per available room to $71.64.
Buenos Aires reported the only double-digit occupancy increase, rising 12.5 percent to 66.3 percent. Panama City fell 7.4 percent to 48.7 percent in occupancy, reporting the largest decrease in that metric. San Francisco (up 11.8 percent to $217.62) and Buenos Aires (up 10.1 percent to $148.62), achieved the largest ADR increases.
Three markets achieved revenue per available room (revPAR) increase of more than 10 percent: Buenos Aires (up 23.9 percent to $98.57); San Francisco (up 13.6 percent to $194.46); and Vancouver (up 10.6 percent to $126.02). Panama City reported the largest ADR decrease (down 6.5 percent to $103.91) and revPAR (down 13.4 percent to $50.60) for the month.
Year-to-date September 2013, the Americas region’s occupancy rose 1.4 percent to 63.9 percent; ADR was up 3.7 percent to $112.66; and RevPAR increased 5.2 percent to $71.99.
