Sustainable Tourism Conference in Cuba to Tackle the Impact of Cruises, Yachting on the Environment

The social and environmental side effects of cruises and yachting will be high on the agenda of attendants to the Sixth Annual Conference on Caribbean Sustainable Tourism scheduled from April 27 to 30 in Cuba.

In this year’s edition, the program will undergo a few changes from previous conclaves, including the addition of simultaneous workshops devised as complements to the working sessions. One of the most eye-catching topics is “Floating Islands Visit our Ports: Social and Environmental Problems in the Cruise and Yachting Sectors.”

Discussions will be focused on finding ways to strike a balance between the ever-growing cruise and yachting industry and the marine ecosystem.

Attendants will also deal with inter-sector planning for the development of sustainable tourism, the building of coastal tourist facilities and alternatives for the takeoff of inland tourism.

The conference, scheduled for Varadero prior to Cuba’s Tourism Convention, will have a motto reading “Keeping the Right Balance: An Encounter between the Sea and the Land.”
