Two Barbados Resorts to Shrug Off Increased Hotel Tax

Although the Barbados government is increasing the Value Added Tax (VAT) on hotel rooms from 7.5 percent to 8.75 percent on May 1, the Mango Bay Hotel Group will maintain its current rates through 2012 and absorb the increase for guests booking at the all-inclusive Mango Bay resort and the Island Inn Hotel.
At both properties, guests enjoy an all-inclusive vacation experience that includes hotel accommodations, all meals, afternoon tea, all local and brand name drinks including wine with dinner and watersports equipment (waterskiing, hobiecat sailing, kayaking and snorkeling).
All-inclusive rates at start at start at $350 at Island Inn Hotel and $535 at Mango Bay through April 30. Rates are quoted per room, per night, based on single or double occupancy with government tax included.
