Waldorf Astoria to Open First Hotel in Latin America

Hilton Worldwide is opening its first Waldorf Astoria hotel in Latin America: the Waldorf Astoria Panama.

The chain had planned to call the 248-unit luxury property The Panamera, A Waldorf Astoria hotel, but opted to emphasize the name of the brand taken from New York’s famed hotel.

Waldorf Astoria Panama is scheduled to open this year in Panama’s capital of Panama City. It is accepting reservations with rates from $219 per night. That price does not include taxes, tips, fees and is subject to availability.

Rooms will feature fine linens and marble bathrooms with rain showers.  The hotel also will offer a fitness center, spa, meeting space, four restaurants and bars, plus an outdoor swimming pool with mosaic gold tiles.

Panama is a growing destination for business travelers. Many are lured by the activity linked to the ongoing Panama Canal expansion and the growth of Panama’s airport as a regional cargo and passenger hub.
