Warwick International Hotels (WIH) Increases Portfolio by 1,250 Rooms in Cuba

The signing of two management contracts by a subsidiary of WIH with Grupo Gaviota, owners of a new 800-key resort in Cayo Santa Maria as well as of a 450-key resort previously known as Allegro Varadero marks a major step in the expansion of WIH.
Grupo Gaviota, one of the most important players in the tourism sector in Cuba, was looking for an experienced, European-based brand to not only manage its future new beach resort located on the exquisite “key” area Cayo Santa Maria but also, to take over the management of the former Allegro resort, a 4* property right on the beach front of Varadero.
Scheduled to open in June 2015, Warwick Cayo Santa Maria Resort is designed as a 5*, all inclusive property and spreads over 26 hectares of lush green gardens with stunning views onto the sparkling Caribbean Sea.
The spectacular resort will moreover feature 7 restaurants and 9 bars, cultural entertainment scene, kids club, swimming pools, tennis courts and numerous beach and diving activities. In honor of the famed Cuban sea turtle, Warwick Cayo Santa Maria Resort has adopted a turtle as its signature logo, and embraces the cultural heritage of marine life preservation.
Operation continues in Varadero under WIH’s management at the now named Naviti Varadero Resort, an all-inclusive 4* resort on a dazzling private beach at Hicacos Peninsula known as Varadero Beach. A perfect spot for families and couples to enjoy all-inclusive services at its 5 restaurants and bars, entertainment center, 2 swimming pools, kids club, tennis courts and many more outdoor activities.
After the recent acquisition of The Warwick, Paradise Island, Bahamas in Nassau, a 5*, 250 rooms’ resort which is currently redesigned and scheduled to open in Fall 2015, and WIH’s affiliate member, the luxurious Balaji Palace Playa Grande in Rio San Juan, Dominican Republic, Warwick Cayo Santa Maria Resort and Naviti Varadero Resort further establish WIH’s presence in the Caribbean. More developments in the Region are currently under discussion and future openings are expected to be announced soon.
As of today, WIH is present on 4 continents and enjoys a portfolio of 58 hotels with more than 9,500 rooms in the 4 and 5 star category.
