Westin San Jose to Open in July 2013

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. said Monday it plans to introduce its Westin brand to downtown San Jose with a Westin San Jose, slated to open in July 2013 at the former site of the Sainte Claire Hotel.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. said Monday it plans to introduce its Westin brand to downtown San Jose with a Westin San Jose, slated to open in July 2013 at the former site of the Sainte Claire Hotel.

The Business Journal previously reported that Wolff Urban Development LLC had purchased the 171-room hotel for about $17 million with plans to affiliate it with Westin Hotels and Resorts brand by late 2012. The previous owner was Larkspur Hotels and Restaurants of Marin County.

The to-be-renovated hotel is located across from the newly expanded San Jose McEnery Convention Center and was built in 1926. It is a national historic landmark.
