South Florida-based Spirit Airlines announced that they would be pulling service to Cuba, joining fellow ultra-low cost carrier Frontier Airlines and regional carrier Silver Airways in leaving the island nation.

The new scheduled flights will commence October 17 subject to government approval, said Sunrise officials in a statement. Seats are projected to be available for bookings in mid-June.

The carrier will increase its frequency of flights from Houston to St Thomas during the summer season.
