
India and Republic of Trinidad & Tobago have agreed to encourage improved bilateral relationships in various sectors including Tourism and Hospitality. As a first step the two countries have concluded Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) to improve air connectivity between the two nations.

The Department of Transportation and Ecuadorean authorities have approved a codeshare agreement between American Airlines and LAN. Under the agreement, sales started Jan. 5 and travel begins Jan. 9. The agreement is designed to provide customers of both airlines with more choices.
Ringing in the New Year in New York City this December 31 will be an expensive proposition for travelers who waited until the last minute to secure a reservation. New analysis compiled by NewYorkHotels.org has found that a few hotel rooms are still available in and around the Big Apple, but only if revelers are willing to pay sky-high prices.

Kuoni is expanding its presence in Namibia with the purchase of Royal Tours. The acquisition is scheduled for completion at the beginning of 2012 pending approval from the competition authorities. A purchase agreement has been signed.

Carnival Corporation & plc announced non-GAAP net income of $216 million, or $0.28 diluted EPS for the fourth quarter of 2011. Reported net income, which includes net unrealized gains on fuel derivatives of $1 million, was $217 million, or $0.28 diluted EPS. Net income for the fourth quarter of 2010 was $248 million, or $0.31 diluted EPS.

British Airways parent company IAG has won its bid for BMI from Lufthansa, meaning it gets as many as 56 more slots at Heathrow, Europe’s busiest airport, which has limited capacity.
