According to the European Travel Commission’s second quarterly report on European Tourism in 2010 -- Trends & Prospects, a global recovery in travel is underway. The recovery extends to Europe which has experienced growth in visitor arrivals through the first half of the year with indications of acceleration into the third quarter. This, despite the setbacks to air travel experienced in April due to the volcanic ash cloud.

JetBlue Airways reported its preliminary traffic results for September 2010 rose 14.6 percent compared to the same month last year, on a capacity increase of 10.4 percent. Load factor for September 2010 was 80.6 percent, an increase of 3 points from September 2009.

MGM Resorts International announced that it is offering 40.9 million shares of its common stock and that its largest stockholder, Tracinda Corp., is offering 27,782,000 shares of its common stock pursuant to an effective registration statement. Barclays Capital Inc. is the sole underwriter.

Amadeus and Concur said that they would showcase the new integrated corporate travel and expense claim solution, Amadeus eTravel Management (AeTM) integrated with Concur’s expense solution, at the ACTE Global Education Conference in Berlin. The integrated solution can be requested immediately though Amadeus and Concur reseller partners or direct sales teams.

US Airways Group, Inc., said that its mainline revenue passenger miles (RPMs) for September were 4.9 billion, up 7.5 percent versus September 2009. Mainline capacity was 6 billion available seat miles (ASMs), up 3.8 percent versus September 2009. Mainline passenger load factor was a record 82.1 percent for the month of September, up 2.8 points versus September 2009.

Vail Resorts is investing around $80 million dollars across Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Heavenly Resorts for the 2010-11 ski and snowboard season. Additionally, RockResorts is celebrating several new property openings.
