
Azamara Club Cruises has unveiled 54 itineraries ranging from five to 16 nights, between March 2012 and February 2013, aboard Azamara Journey and Azamara Quest. The new voyages complete the cruise line’s 2012 deployments, which total 64 sailings that visit unique destinations around the world.

The Grand Turk Cruise Center (GTCC) had a record year in 2010 with 248 calls from 40 cruise ships from 14 cruise brands. For the year, GTCC hosted a record 622,720 passengers, a 19% increase over the previous year and a 113% increase over 2006, the center’s first year of operation.

Following travel warnings issued by the U.S. State Department, Viking River Cruises moved swiftly to transport passengers who were in Cairo to Frankfurt, Germany, according to the company. All 91 guests are now safely in a Frankfurt hotel and will travel home to the United States tomorrow.

Mazatlan tourism officials report the Mexican port is now busy with cruise passengers just a week after several cruise lines cancelled calls there, citing increased crime. “Earlier this week, we welcomed thousands of passengers from major cruise lines, including Holland America, Celebrity, Carnival and Norwegian,” said Julio Birrueta, spokesman for the Mazatlan Tourism Trust.

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. Chairman Richard Fain said the company is close to ordering more new ships for the Royal Caribbean International brand. He also denied rumors that the company is looking to sell its Azamara Club Cruises brand or the brand’s ships. During a conference call with analysts announcing fourth-quarter earnings, Fain said the company is “working intensively on a new design.”

Disney Cruise Line is cancelling the Disney Wonder’s calls at Mazatlan, Mexico, due to the “changing environment. The Disney Wonder’s new itinerary now has it visiting Cabo San Lucas on Thursday instead of Mazatlan, in addition to a half-day on Friday in Cabo. In a statement, the Mazatlan Tourism Trust said Mazatlan is regarded as one of the safest destinations in Mexico.
