Calling for the Caribbean to compete for primacy of the complete tourism product, Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller says the region's vision on competition is both narrow and clouded. The prime minister was speaking at the opening ceremony of the Caribbean Travel Marketplace 2014 at the Montego Bay Convention Centre on Sunday night.
Jamaica is showcasing some of its spectacular tourism offerings this week as Montego Bay plays host to the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association’s premier tourism marketing event, Caribbean Travel Marketplace 2014.
A record number of over 5,600 delegates attended the six forums that Routes organized around the globe in 2013. These gatherings have become the must attend events of the year that shape the world`s air services.
The Caribbean Travel Marketplace, the region's largest and most important marketing event, kicks off of at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in Montego Bay, Jamaica. It is expected to attract more than 1,200 delegates, which is on pace with last year's event, according to Caribbean tourism representatives. The event will run through January 14.
World Travel Market Latin America 2014, which takes place from April 23rd–25th at the Transamerica Expo Centre in São Paulo, is introducing a dedicated Travel Technology Region to the exhibition floor for the first time.
