The rebranding of the 117-room hotel overlooking the North Sound follows months of renovations to bring the resort up to the expected standards of the franchise parent company InterContinental Hotels Group.

Hilton Worldwide will manage the Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Santa Fe in Morelos and the Hilton Garden Inn Coatzacoalcos in Veracruz. The hotels are scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2015 and early 2016, respectively.

Accor has revealed ambitious expansion plans for its midscale Mercure brand, with 53 new hotels planned in 2013 including its first in Turkey and Sweden. The group, which currently includes 732 properties, is targeting 1,000 by 2015.

Four Points by Sheraton brand is continuing its rapid expansion across Canada with the opening of Four Points by Sheraton Kelowna Airport. Owned by Argus Properties and managed by Pacrim Hospitality Services, the centrally located 120-room property includes 4,500 square feet of meeting facilities.

IHG has opened its second hotel in Ecuador as part of the group’s expansion and brand relaunch. The seven-story 122-room Holiday Inn Hotel Guayaquil Airport in Guayaquil is adjacent to the José Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport.
