Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. said its long-awaited Florida resort, The St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort, will officially open on Jan. 19, 2012. The St. Regis Bal Harbour is expected to build up Bal Harbour as an enclave for art, design and fashion that is just minutes from Miami and Miami’s South Beach. The resort’s general manager is Marco Selva.

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants opens its newest oceanfront hotel in Miami, the Surfcomber, on Dec. 1. Following a top-to-bottom renovation of this South Beach spot, the new Surfcomber will offer guests a playful escape.

Wyndham Hotel Group, LLC, part of Wyndham Worldwide Corporation, added the 68-room Wyndham Las Villas Resort Mazatlan in Mexico to the upscale Wyndham Hotels and Resorts brand’s growing resort portfolio. The Mazatlan property, located in the Mexican state of Sinaloa, is the seventh Wyndham-branded hotel in the country.

After recently teaming on Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana, Palace Resorts LLC and Hard Rock International announced an agreement to transform Palace Resorts properties in Cancun, Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Maya into Hard Rock Hotels. These all-inclusive properties will blend the Palace Resorts vacation experience with the Hard Rock experience in these three Mexican tourist destinations.

Sandals Resorts International (SRI) has launched a $500 million series of large-scale renovation projects at its resorts in several Caribbean countries, part of a plan to “expand and enhance” the company’s resorts during the decade, said company officials.
