Dreams Resorts & Spas is getting ready to open the Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa in the Riviera Maya next month. The company is celebrating the opening in partnership with Lifetime Network’s “The Balancing Act.”
The Barnard family, owners and operators of SunSwept Resorts, will refurbish and expand Rendezvous, The Boutique Hotel for Couples in St. Lucia. The hotel will reopen on Oct. 18 having undergone a $15 million renovation and upgrade.
InterContinental Hotels Group has combined its Latin America and Caribbean regions under the leadership of Alvaro Diago, now COO for the regions. Diago was most recently area president for Latin America.
Sandals plans to enter the corporate market with Sandals City, a hotel to be built in Kingston, Jamaica. The hotel is a departure from Sandals’ all-inclusive resort concept.
Choice Hotels now allows rewards program members to redeem points at Barcelo resorts in Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Barcelo is the third upscale partner for Choice, which operates mostly budget brands.

Boasting a secluded cliffside setting where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez, the oceanfront hideaway, with just 66 guest accommodations, is offering introductory rates and packages that start at $475 per room, per night and include extras such as daily resort credits, complimentary spa treatments and more.
