Breezes Curacao opened an expanded 12,000-square-foot Kids Club and launched a lineup of adventures for the peak season, including a circus workshop, dance classes, scavenger hunts, a video arcade, a separate kid’s pool, a sumo wrestling ring, boxing classes and a giant chessboard. The all-inclusive family resort also offers a skating rink, a rock-climbing wall, an arts and crafts center and theme parties.

Sheriton –not to be confused with the hotel firm Sheraton- Estates, a privately-owned, three-villa luxury complex above Cove Pond on the west end of Anguilla, will open November 23. Infinity, Harmony and Mystique villas are a 20-room, seven-pool trio of residences set on 10 acres in a gated enclave. The villas interiors feature Brazilian hardwoods, Italian marble, hand-carved beds from Burma and state of the art technology.

The InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), the world’s largest hotel group by number of rooms, announced in a press release that it has signed a management agreement with Inverplata S.A. for the new Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. The 7-story, 145-room hotel, currently under construction, is perched on Abraham Lincoln Avenue, in an upscale neighborhood that is home to major foreign and local companies’ headquarters, embassies, and government agencies.

Barceló Hotels & Resorts has announced that construction is underway on a fifth luxury property at its expansive all- inclusive resort complex: the Barceló Maya Beach Resort in Mexico. The newest hotel at the resort is oceanfront, will include 756 all-suite luxury guestrooms and it is scheduled to welcome guests in December of 2007. Recently, the Resort announced the addition of a new European style Spa complex which will open next month for the 2006-2007 winter season.

Starwood Hotels has announced that the new Westin St. Maarten Dawn Beach Resort & Spa will open on the Caribbean island of St. Maarten on December 13. The property will fly the Westin flag under a license agreement and is developed, owned and managed by Columbia Sussex, developer, owner and operator of more than 85 hotels and seven casinos around the world.
