Intrawest Corporation, one of the world´s leading destination resort and adventure-travel companies, has announced plans of their first resort village in the Central Florida market. Located on a 30-acre property acquired through a joint venture partnership in March 2004, the master-planned resort village will include approximately 1,000 units consisting of a mix of residential homes, town homes and condo-hotel units.
Beaches Negril Resort & Spa has copped yet another international environmental award. The resort was recently conferred with the Kuoni Green Planet Award for observing environmentally safe practices and ensuring that the hotel was environmentally-friendly. The award was presented by the Kuoni Travel Service based in Switzerland. The Kuoni Green Planet Award is the second international award presented to Beaches Negril. In October 2004, the resort achieved the prestigious Green Globe 21 Benchmark Certificate.
NH Hotels is opening its first hotel in Romania, the NH Bucharest. By doing so, the hotel chain continues expanding into Eastern Europe, after opening its first hotel in Hungary two years ago. The NH Bucharest is the first of the two hotels the chain has planned to open in Romania. The second one, the NH Timisoara, will be opening at the end of this month. The new hotel is operating under a management contract and has 78 rooms. This is the first step into a country with great growth potential. After entering Romania, NH Hoteles will now be present in 19 countries, as it has also recently opened its first hotel in the United Kingdom.
Sunset at the Palms, one of Jamaica´s newest eco-friendly, all-inclusive resort´s, has just refreshed the property with a total makeover. Stilt houses are scattered throughout the ten-acre tropical garden, bordering the Negril Royal Palm Preserve. Sixty-five "tree house-style" rooms –once featured in “Architectural Digest”- are tucked among the flowers and towering trees, steps away from ´Bloody Bay´.
Accor North America, as part of an effort to grow its luxury Sofitel brand in the U.S., said it is seeking a long-term investor. It also announced plans to sell its majority interest in six properties in six key gateway cities: Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, San Francisco and Washington. Accor said it would maintain an interest in the hotels through a joint venture relationship and the hotels would continue to operate under the Sofitel brand.
The 9 Beaches Resort in Bermuda is offering a 50 percent savings with its "Half Price Deal" promotion from now through January 2, 2006.
