On a brightly lit stage before a crowd of thousands, an animated Pope Francis rallied his followers to focus on family in a fiery homily on love and faith.

Pope Francis on Sunday visited the largest prison in Philadelphia, shaking the hands of 100 inmates and offering them words of comfort in a speech focused on hope and rehabilitation.

Pope Francis met with victims of child sexual abuse Sunday on the final day of his U.S. visit and promised to hold accountable those responsible for the scandal in the church, delivering a powerful warning to American bishops accused of covering up for pedophile priests instead of reporting them to police.

Pope Francis signed a mural called The Sacred Now: Faith and Family in the 21st Century on Saturday night, making him one of more than 2700 people to participate in creating the mural.

Pope Francis, arriving in Philadelphia on Saturday on the final leg of a visit to the United States, reminded ordinary Catholics of the role they must share with priests and the wider church to sustain the faith “in a rapidly changing society.”

Pope Francis had quite a star-studded lineup of opening acts prior to his Mass at Madison Square Garden. On Friday, the pontiff concluded his first visit to New York City by headlining a packed arena of over 18,000 worshippers.
