The International Coalition of Tourism Partners announced that the Ministry of Tourism of Saint Lucia has joined as a member. “We are pleased to welcome Saint Lucia to our membership," ICTP Chairman Juergen T. Steinmetz said.

Online travel company Expedia Inc. revealed data Wednesday showing demand for travel to Puerto Rico on more than 140 of its sites worldwide grew 40 percent during the third quarter of 2012, compared to the previous year.

The United States Virgin Islands is reporting its highest levels of air arrivals since the mid-1990s, according to a report from Texas-based consultants Reynolds, Smith and Hills. The report found that air traffic is up 9.9 percent over the previous fiscal period.

Peru is aiming to attract 6 million tourists by 2016, according to Carlos Canales, head of the National Chamber of Tourism. This year, he said, Peru saw 2.9 million tourists, who generated $3.3 billion in revenue for the country’s tourism industry.

Jamaica’s Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller has expressed optimism that the economy will rebound and record growth at a reasonable pace. She, however, did not provide a time frame in which it was expected to occur.
