As the situations in Japan have been assessed by various governments and international authorities as stable, Tadatoshi Mamiya, president of the Japan National Tourism Organization, announced that JNTO will resume promoting tourism to Japan, just over a month after the earthquake and tsunami hit the coast of the Tohoku region in Japan.

Visitor arrivals by airline grew nearly 8 percent in the first quarter of 2011, compared with the same period in 2010, according to Patrice K. Minors, Bermuda’s minister of business development and tourism. First-quarter 2011 air arrivals totaled 30,824, compared with 28,865 air visitors in the first quarter of 2010. Also, arrivals increased during each month in the quarter.

Minister of Tourism Ed Bartlett, is challenging industry stakeholders to investment more to meet the changing demands of consumers. Speaking at the 4th annual Tourism Outlook Seminar being held at the Half Moon Conference Centre in Montego Bay, St James, Bartlett charged urged participants to use their deliberations as a springboard to develop strategies to meet the changing demand.
