The Virtual Getaway by Caribbean News Digital heads back to Asia, this time around to explore Japan. Check out these two videos and have a virtual travel experience of your own.

Created two years ago by the Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO), this 360-degree video takes you on a virtual tour of Japan.

Over four minutes, you will — among other experiences — walk through Kyoto’s Arashiyama bamboo forest, explore an old town on a jinrikisha (rickshaw), cross the Shibuya scramble crossing, and feed the friendly deers of Nara.

Some clips are also filmed from the point of view of the item or person featured, so you’ll also get to be a Pikachu plush toy being fished out of a UFO catcher, a sumo face-to-face with another wrestler, and a plate of sushi whizzing around a conveyor belt.

Now you can, with these 360-degree videos that showcase changing landscapes of the Tohoku region and Tokyo in all four seasons, complete with a backdrop of upbeat music. For example, one video first shows dessert cafes in Tokyo serving sweets with fresh fruits, before cutting to a scene of apple orchards in Yamagata.

If you want to tour other regions of Japan, there are also the Chugoku + Shikoku X Tokyo, Kyushu X Tokyo, and Hokuriku X Tokyo series to watch. Like Tohoku X Tokyo, each series has multiple videos featuring famous sights of the region it showcases, with 360-degree views.
