JetSMART Launches Direct Recife–Buenos Aires Route

JetSMART Airlines, the South American low-cost carrier, launched its first direct flight between Recife, Brazil, and Buenos Aires (Ezeiza International Airport - EZE/SAEZ) on Tuesday.
The new route marks the airline’s debut in Brazil’s Northeast region and expands its international network in the country to ten routes across five cities: Rio de Janeiro, Florianópolis, Nova Iguaçu, São Paulo, and now Recife.
JetSMART expects to carry more than 57,000 passengers in the first year on the Recife–Buenos Aires route, operated with Airbus A320 aircraft seating up to 186 passengers. One-way fares start at approximately R$800 (US$146.56) including taxes, with the option for travelers to customize their experience by selecting only the services they need, such as checked baggage.
“These are low-cost fares where consumers can adjust the price based on their needs,” explained Verónica Marambio, JetSMART’s Commercial Manager. “As our fleet grows, we aim to offer more international flights in Brazil, especially direct connections between major cities without requiring domestic layovers.”
The flight, which takes about five hours, aims to boost tourism and cultural exchange between Argentina and Brazil’s Northeast. Many Argentine travelers previously had to connect through other Brazilian cities to reach Recife.
JetSMART’s new service will operate four times a week — on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays — and adds to the existing biweekly direct flights offered by Gol Linhas Aéreas between Recife and Buenos Aires’ Aeroparque (AEP/SABE) since April.
“Recife is an increasingly popular tourist destination for Argentines,” said Marambio. “But most of them arrive through connecting flights. Our goal is to make travel easier for both Argentines heading to Recife and for residents of Pernambuco looking to visit Buenos Aires, which is an important hub for culture and business.”
JetSMART is also considering additional international routes from Recife. “We are constantly evaluating new destinations, and the launch of three new international routes from Brazil this year alone proves our commitment,” Marambio added.
With a fleet of 49 aircraft, JetSMART continues to strengthen its presence in South America, focusing on affordable, direct, and flexible connectivity for travelers across the region.
