Wyndham Hotels and Resorts and Islander Collection, a Mexico-based property management group, opened the newly constructed, 96-room, all-suite Aura Cozumel, A Wyndham Grand Bay hotel.

The $22 million resort represents the Wyndham brand’s first newly constructed Grand Bay property. It is adjacent to the 402-room Wyndham Cozumel Resort and Spa, which became the first Wyndham branded property in Cozumel last August, also managed by Islander Collection.

The Aura Cozumel Wyndham Grand Bay is also the island’s first inductee to Preferred Boutique. Situated along Cozumel’s southwestern coast, the resort is 20 minutes from the Cozumel International Airport, 10 minutes from downtown San Miguel, 30 minutes from the Cozumel Country Club golf course and minutes from several of the most popular reefs and dive spots in the Caribbean.

The hotel’s suites are dispersed in four low-rise buildings. Ground-level rooms offer direct pool access from their patios. Each area pool is connected to the resort’s central “lazy river” pool, a focal point of the property.

Guests staying at the Aura Cozumel Wyndham Grand Bay also receive access to the Islander Spa as well as special reservations for tee times at the Cozumel Country Club golf course. The Aura is a pet-friendly hotel.

Geared toward couples and young families, the one- and two-bedroom suites range from 750 to more than 2,000 square feet in size. All rooms are equipped with king-size or two queen-size beds and oversized baths featuring marble floors and walls as well as separate shower and bathtub areas.
