Baha Mar Inks Deal with Harrah’s, Starwood to Develop Megaresort
Baha Mar Resorts has signed a joint venture agreement with a subsidiary of Harrah’s Entertainment to create and develop the 1,000-acre Baha Mar project in the Cable Beach area of Nassau, Bahamas, which will include four managed hotels under Starwood’s W, St. Regis, Westin and Sheraton brands.
In addition, the accommodations inventory will include the 1,000-room Caesars Resort Hotel at Baha Mar, along with a 100,000-square-foot casino, marking the debut of the Harrah’s Entertainment brand into the region.
Investments for phase one total more than $2 billion. The room count in all the properties will total more than 3,000. Baha Mar Resorts will serve as the developer for the resort.
Baha Mar’s design plans include an expansive water boulevard and 50-foot-high circular waterfall at the entry to the resort’s porte-cochere.
The Sheraton Cable Beach Resort is expected to open later this year following an $80 million property-wide renovation and re-flagging of Baha Mar Resort’s existing Radisson Cable Beach & Golf Resort.
