Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas has launched a property upgrade that includes four renovation and redesign projects in the first phase. Design firm Jeffrey Beers International will oversee the work.

The first phase of renovations will be completed between November 2015 and May 2016. It is the start of Atlantis’ two-year plan to enhance the mega-resort.

Already underway is a renovation of the Marketplace restaurant and Plato’s lounge.

When completed, Marketplace will reopen as Poseidon’s Table in late December. The buffet restaurant will have round booth and banquette seating, accommodating 300 guests.

Plato’s, the lounge in Royal Towers, is being redesigned with a beach-like atmosphere, a central bar with four large TVs, a raised lounge section with a small stage and a new patisserie serving light fare throughout the day and evening. Anticipated opening is mid-February 2016.

In mid-November, Atlantis Casino will introduce Salon Prive, a new space with high-limit slot machines, private rooms for high-stakes table game players, and a 16-foot curved glass aquarium.

All suites in the 600-suite Cove Atlantis will be enhanced with new headboards, carpets and wall art. The renovation is slated for completion next May, and the resort will remain fully operational throughout the project, with a rolling renovation plan to minimize guest disruption.

Jeffrey Beers designed the Cove Atlantis, a tower at the resort that opened in 2007.
