Barbados Hotel Resort Takes Over St. Lucian Property
Almond Resorts, the Barbados-based all inclusive hotel resort, has taken over the management of St. James Club, formerly the Wyndham Morgan Bay, and has promised to spend over US$40 million to rebrand and improve the property.
The take-over will be effective from May 31 and will be called Almond Morgan Bay, Ralph Taylor, the chairman and managing director of Almond Resorts pointed out.
Taylor said the property would be closed for a brief period for renovations, which would include expanding the facility from its current 240 room capacity to 340 rooms.
He said workers will receive full severance benefits and other entitlements prior to the closure and those who meet the recruitment criteria will be rehired when operations resume.
Almond Resorts currently operates two major hotels in Barbados, employing over 800 persons.
