Timeshare resort company The Royal Resorts Group is using BelAir Networks’ broadband wireless equipment at two of its Caribbean properties, following up to its previous deployments in two other locations.

Kanata-based BelAir, which provides mobile wireless broadband mesh networking solutions, said it has deployed two quad-radio BelAir200 and 37 dual-radio BelAir100 nodes throughout its client’s five-star Pelican Marina Residences and Pelican Resort Club properties on the Caribbean island of St. Maarten.

The outdoor nodes will allow for support of the resort’s point of sale (POS) system, allowing payment via guest card at its services and shops, and provide high-speed wireless Internet access and a new video security system on the network.

The Royal Resorts Group said BelAir’s network saved the company the $100,000 that it would have cost to connect its video security cameras with traditional cabling, and noted that it was able to securely divide the network for the different users and applications including guest access, corporate administration, sales, POS and security cameras.

The group has previously deployed BelAir’s equipment throughout the Royal Haciendas resort on the Riviera Maya in Mexico, and at the Hotel El Castellano in Merida, the capital of the Mexican state of Yucatan.
