Canada Hotel industry Posts Positive Outcomes Q2 2015
The Canadian hotel industry reported mostly positive results in the three key performance metrics for the second quarter of 2015, according to data from STR, Inc.
In year-over-year results, the Canadian hotel industry’s occupancy was down 0.3 percent to 67.1 percent. However, its average daily rate rose 4.8 percent to CAD$144.12, and its revenue per available room increased 4.5 percent to CAD$96.63.
Among the provinces, British Columbia reported the highest RevPAR increase during the quarter, up 13.4 percent to CAD$111.11. Manitoba (+11.6 percent to CAD$81.57) was the only other province to report a double-digit increase in RevPAR.
Alberta experienced the steepest RevPAR decline for the quarter, down 7.6 percent to CAD$93.81. Each of the provinces reported an increase in ADR, led by British Columbia (+9.3 percent to CAD$157.33).
Manitoba (+6.3 percent to 66.0 percent) posted the largest occupancy increase, while Alberta (-8.6 percent to 62.2 percent) reported the largest occupancy decrease.
