Capella Hotels and Resorts will open the 59-suite Capella Ixtapa in Ixtapa, Mexico, next summer. The resort will be designed to resemble a Mediterranean hillside village with Mexican influences.

The property’s 54 standard suites and five one-bedroom suites all feature a private plunge pool and terrace and views of the ocean.

Also onsite will be a 6,000-square-foot spa and 1,300-square-foot fitness center; three eateries; a fresh-water and a salt-water pool; and various land and water sports.

In Mexico, the Capella Ixtapa will join the Capella Pedregal, which is set to open in Cabo San Lucas in 2008 and the Capella Bahia Maroma, set to open in the Riviera Maya in winter 2008/2009.

In addition to the hotels in Mexico, the Capella brand consists of the Schloos Velden, a Capella Hotel, which opened in Velden, Austria, in May, and the Capella Castlemartyr, which opened in August in Cork, Ireland.
