Club Med Punta Cana Open Teen Hangout
With an eye aimed squarely at the teen market (ages 14 to 17), Club Med debuted The Ramp at the Club Med Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. The Ramp also will be rolled out at Club Med´s family properties in Ixtapa, Mexico, and Sandpiper, Florida, by the end of the year.
John Vanderslice, Club Med Americas president and CEO, said "the teen market is one of the hardest to wow and, especially on vacation."
The Ramp, a collaboration between the Coca-Cola Co. and Rockwell Group designers, is a two-story, open-air lounge that serves as a place for teens to hang out, skateboard, rollerblade and escape parental supervision.
The top-floor deck has a skateboard and rollerblade ramp, housed beneath a fabric sail, as well as a giant hammock and two benches with telescopes. Under the ramp is a lounge lined with chairs, a self-serve soda fountain bar, and a jukebox.
At check-in, each teen gets a welcome packet, which includes a combination for a personal mailbox at The Ramp, and a red cloth bracelet for access to The Ramp. Seven-night land packages at Club Med Punta Cana this summer start at $840 per adult and $430 per child (ages 4 to 15).
