DR’s Casa de Campo Wins Golf Magazine’s Gold Medal

In December, Casa de Campo reopened following a major renovation of its rooms, suites and a fully remodeled lobby. Also unveiled was the La Cana Restaurant & Lounge by II Circo, a fine-dining restaurant with both indoor and al fresco dining, managed by the Maccioni family of Le Cirque in New York.
This is the Maccioni family’s second venture at Casa de Campo, following the Beach Club by Le Cirque at the resort’s Minitas Beach. The fitness center has been refurbished and a new Montecristo Cigar Lounge has been added. In addition, the main area and main pool area have been completely renovated to include trellised platforms for early morning and late afternoon yoga classes, and shaded seating areas in natural woods and white canopies and cushions.
Coinciding with the Olympic Games, the March 2010 issue of Golf Magazine features its medal rankings and Casa de Campo, home of the Pete Dye-designed Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore and Links courses, is one of only 25 properties cited as a Gold Medal winner. Golf Magazine started this ranking in 1988. Properties are ranked on four criteria: golf, lodging, dining and service.
Since the votes were cast, Casa de Campo opened many new facilities such as the David Leadbetter Golf Academy at Casa de Campo, its only Caribbean facility, which opened January 2010 offering guests high-quality instruction. Last month, Casa de Campo unveiled new Elite hotel rooms and suites with 42-inch LCD flat-screen TV with Blue-ray disc player and cable, alarm clock radio with dual dock for iPod and iPhone, mini bar with espresso coffee machine and more.
