Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is developing a mixed-use luxury resort on the western coast of North Caicos in the Turks and Caicos. Under terms of its deal with the Schaumburg, Illinois-based Wight Group, Fairmont will manage the 150-room resort, a 150-room condo hotel and several Fairmont-branded residential developments including Fairmont Heritage Place.

The property, which will be called the Fairmont Turks & Caicos, is expected to open in 2009. Plans include an 18-hole championship golf course, tennis courts, a marina and a spa.

“Turks & Caicos is rapidly becoming a popular travel destination, and we are delighted to be part of the expansion at the luxury end of the market,” said William Fatt, Fairmont´s CEO.
