Mexican airport operator Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte, also known as OMA, said it acquired 90 percent of the shares of Consorcio Grupo Hotelero in order to develop and operate a hotel and commercial space inside the new Terminal 2 at Mexico City Airport.

The hotel will be jointly owned by OMA and Spain-based NH Hotels, which owns the other 10 percent not owned by OMA. The NH-branded airport hotel will have 287 rooms and will be marketed as a five-star property. OMA said it will operate the commercial areas, and NH Hotels will operate the hotel.

Officials said the hotel, which will cost approximately $22 million to develop, is 60 percent completed and is expected to open for business by the end of the first quarter of 2009.
