American carrier Frontier Airlines (FA) has shared that its revenue passenger miles increased 10.6 percent to 575,024,000 for January 2006 from the same period last year.

The airline stated that available seat miles increased 13.1 percent to 870,032,000 for January 2006 from the same period last year. This resulted in a load factor for January 2006 of 66.1 percent, a decrease of 1.5 points from January 2005, when the airline reported a load factor of 67.6 percent.

The airline carried 603,649 passengers during January 2006, a 16.3 percent increase from January 2005, according to the airline. FA reported passenger yield of 10.64 cents for the month of January 2006, an increase of 4.8 percent from the same period last year.

The company said it calculated passenger yield and passenger revenue per available seat mile from revenue derived from mainline revenue passengers.

For the fiscal year to date, traffic increased 12.5 percent to 6.13 billion revenue passenger miles, while capacity grew 7.4 percent to about 8.2 billion available seat miles. Load factor improved to 74.8 percent from 71.4 percent.

Recently, Frontier Airlines Inc shared that it will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Frontier Airlines Holdings Inc. FA said the reorganized structure will allow it more flexibility for future expansion through acquisitions or joint ventures and more flexibility for financing. The company also expects to benefit from the business-friendly corporate laws in Delaware.
